Next time you host brunch and want to impress try my “Greens Sunrise” mocktail. Not only does this drink look awesome, it is actually awesome. It’s tasty, of course, but more than that it’s loaded with plant-based phytonutrients to make this virgin cocktail more than just sugar-laden eye candy. And it’s simple to make.
There’s just four ingredients and a touch of skill involved.
As for the ingredients:
- Fresh orange juice
- tomato juice
- Genuine Health‘s greens+
- Sparkling water
- Optional: stick of celery to garnish.
The key to making this drink look awesome is the layered effect — this where the skill comes in. After some experimentation I’ve found the orange juice has to go in first (it’s the heaviest). Once you have the desired amount of orange juice in the bottom of the glass, gently add the tomato juice by slowly dribbling it over the back of a spoon. Finally, top with the greens+ which has already been pre-mixed with sparking water. Don’t forget to scoop on that green foam!
And bob’s your uncle!
I’m using a martini glass but you could easily use a tall glass for a longer drink. And, of course, you’ll want to stir before drinking so the celery stick is also useful.
Looks aside, I love this cocktail. The combination of orange juice, tomato juice and sparking water with the greens+ cuts some of the “green” taste and makes this truly drinkable.
Supplementing with Genuine Health‘s greens+ is an easy way to top up your nutrient stores. It’s a powdered blend of 23 colourful and nourishing ingredients, providing the most abundant source of health promoting plant nutrients available in a superfood. See my previous review here.
